TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION

Rex Murphy is a Rhodes Scholar who very succinctly, makes key points on current events.

Below he presents his view on the amazing opportunity we have in Canada to follow through on the 94 Recommendations made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

I hope as he points out, that this is not just going to be another flare that goes up with a bang and quickly passes.

As educators, we have an amazing opportunity now to acknowledge this unfortunate historical event and put a monitored, cyclic action plan in place to ensure our students, parents, teachers, administrators and support staffs, move toward a diverse and inclusive school community that engages the indigenous populations and make them a part of moving forward.

Recommendations 6 to 12 focus the next steps necessary, to improve the aboriginal education experience.
